Britney Spears is finally free. A Los Angeles judge recently put an end to the almost 14-year-long conservatorship that controlled Spears’ personal life and finances. This was expected since there was little support left for prolonging the conservatorship. But Judge Brenda Penny offered no indication about which her decision would go. One of the key factors that helped end the conservatorship was a speech that Spears made at a hearing earlier this year when she described the scrutiny and restrictions placed on her life as “abusive.”
