New lockdowns are keeping millions of people at home in China amid the nation’s rising COVID-19 cases. Several countries across Europe are also witnessing increasing cases due to eased restrictions. China is currently following a “zero COVID” approach, but the new lockdowns are expected to create a few supply chain problems.
BBC correspondent Stephen McDonell said on Twitter that about 52.5 million people in cities including Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Langfang are under full lockdown. About 39 million more residents in Shanghai and Xian are affected by quasi-lockdowns. Watch the video to know more.
