On September 21, the FBI confirmed that Gabby Petito’s body was discovered in a national park in Wyoming. A brief statement was issued by Brian Laundrie, the lawyer for the family of her fiance. “May Gabby rest in peace,” Steven Bertolino, Laundrie family attorney, told PEOPLE. Gabby, who hailed from Long Island, New York, was last heard from in late August while on a cross-country road trip with Laundrie.
